For the past 18 years, my family and I have been living in Webster. It's a wonderful community full of natural beauty, friendly people, good schools and lots of talent. One of our favorite activities has always been the Community Arts Day event. When the kids were young, we headed over to Schroeder High School for the one day, Spring event to make crafts, look at art projects made by students from the various schools, watch musical groups perform and local organizations do demonstrations and talk with local business owners. For the kids, the carnival and crafts were the favorites especially Sand Art.
As my children got older, I decided to be a part of the planning committee and gravitated to the Sand Art activity. After a few years, I found myself in charge of the whole thing and decided to add another activity called Candy Art, another huge hit! When I began my photography business and decided to have a table set up to promote Hayes Photography, I promised myself that I'd only do one more year of committee work. Well, that was three years ago and here were are again.
April 20th, from 10am-4pm, Webster Schroeder HS hosts Community Arts Day 2013! I'll be in charge of Sand Art and Candy Art as well as the Hayes Photography table. This year there's an addition to the event and I'm so proud to be the brainchild of it. Hayes Photography, in cooperation with Community Arts Day, is holding a contest called Cute Kids of CAD. Children ages 2-10 are invited to visit the table with their parents, sign up and get their photograph taken for free. After the event, the images will be pooled together, judged by the CAD committee and a winner will be decided.
The winning entrant will be contacted and announcements will be posted on the Community Arts Day 2013 webpage , Facebook page and the Hayes Photography blog and Facebook page . The winner will receive a 10" x 10" canvas gallery wrap of their child's image (a value of $$195) for free! It's sure to be a big draw as CAD is a terrific family event and Webster is full of cute kids! Make sure you plan some time that Saturday to stop by Schroeder and visit the Hayes Photography table to have your child's portrait taken.
